My experience with montane kings - they either want to be at 55-60 deg, or 80 deg.

Not sure of the snake's health. The fact that it is skinny can be contributed to its not eating but exposed to temps that allow for calorie burning. The fact that it is always trying to get out is exactly that - it is looking for other conditions.

I have had to cool baby pyros and such. Not always, but it happens. Never had an issue. In Spring, they would eat eagerly.

The point is - whatever you are doing (snake in the 70s) is definitely not working. Don't blame the snake. Change the conditions. Does it have access to a moist hide? Baby montane kings are moisture-loss sensitive. Water bowls do little in that regard.
