Welcome BRB714! Congrats on your new pet snake, and glad to see another poster gracing this page!

As for your questions:

The old line is that aquariums were made for fish, not reptiles. That said, they can totally be made to work, if a few modifications are made:
--Replace the screen top with a sheet of plexiglass
--Cover several sides of the tank with an insulating material such as Reflectix. Watch temps *carefully*, however, as this can cause heat spikes. I assume you have a thermostat?

Rainbows will absolutely bury themselves, not only for heat but also for security: it feels safer to them.

How cold did it get inside the enclosure? If below 60F (which is low but OK for a short spell), watch for any symptoms of an RI, just to be safe.

A heat lamp is not necessary, provided you provide underbelly and insulate. As you noted, it can and often will cause humidity issues.

Misting is never a bad idea. I mist the enclosure of any animal in shed once per day.

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help answer!
