Dog / Pet insurance - is it worth it?

Hello,

I'm planning to adopt a pet next week and have been looking into pet insurance. I have heard very mixed reviews thus far since it doesn't work the same way human health insurance does.
As info, the insurance plan that my employer offers does not include pet insurance so I would have to do it through a third party. I would be ok spending
