People sometimes make good strides after being diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder -- after they dismiss the diagnosis and the "treatments", which are generally drugs or psychoactive substances like lithium.

According to free essay writer bipolar disorder is updated terminology for schizophrenia, which is updated terminology for madness. The idea of madness, melancholia, etc. -- "mental illness" -- has been around for 5000 years or more. It's a widely held belief system, a fearful set of assertions. Lithium cannot help heal any real brain problems any more than Adderall or Xanax or Haldol can. It sometimes results in a more passive person, if passivity is considered a good goal, but this is emphasized by society and psychiatry to ignore the reality that more often patients see increased difficulties with these "medications," including suicide in those who never thought of it before. The "medications" all harm the brain. That's a known fact.

As ex-patient Leonard Roy Frank wrote, "psychiatry is to medicine as astrology is to astronomy.
