Remember that thrash is a subgenre of metal (all thrash bands were influenced by sabbath) and speed metal is just slang for thrash. If you like thrash, you might try Metallica's first album "kill em' all" (their only all-thrash album), Exodus's Bonded by Blood, or any 80s Megadeth album (Rust in Peace is the best). Sepultura was once a thrash band, but don't get anything new. Sepultura and Living Sacrifice both released thrash albums the first time around, but both had marginal/bad vocals, and changed to a newer, more simplistic form of music. There are many more thrash albums out there, but most are out of print and only available as used vinyls (wolfsbane, Convict, etc.). If you want a good grasp on metal, start with Black Sabbath's 1970 eponymous debut, and then get each album that came after that. Buy them in order and you will witness the invention of metal. Volume 4 is probably my favorite, though paranoid had the hits. Also, branch out into other kinds of music as well. Metal only comprises about 30% of what I listen to, but I am definitely a more versatile musician than anyone I've met who listens exclusively to metal, and therefore better at metal as well. If you want to talk music, email me. And get over slayer. they sound cool, but all they want is your money. [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Show Entire Thread ] | ||
