Okay, I have a BP in a 10g right now, too.
I don't like reptile heating pads for 2 reasons:
1) Can't change the temperature.
2) Cost buttloads more than I like to spend when I know products that are just as good. I buy 3temp human pads for all my snakes, and they cost about $12. Instead of, like, $40 for reptile UTHs. I've only had one reptile UTH, and it got WAY too hot, and I ended up losing a snake that way. So, ALWAYS monitor substrate temps.
Anyway, as for lighting -
I had a 60w ZooMed basking light in my 10g, and it got about 10 degrees too hot. So, I went down to a ZooMed 45w blue light. I really think a 100w buld would FRY your snake. I have a 100w in my 4x2x2 cage, and a 60-75 (depending on if it's winter or summer) in my 20g.
Just to repeat what's already been said, go get a 20 if you can. A 20'll hold up to a 3' BP (at least 2-3 yrs) - a 10'll hold her for maybe a year. I got mine last August, and she's already outgrown hers. I'm getting a new cage for her in the next week or so. Hmm. Maybe I should do that today.
Anyway, but aquariums at grocery store things - Wal-mart, Meijer, etc. Petstores jack up the prices. I can get a 45g aquarium at Meijer for about $55 - at least $70 at a petstore.
