Its cheaper, they arrive at your door, and you can stockpile mice in a freezer for months. I know of one species of snake that actually does eat plant matter (Erpeton tentaculum). Mice can have parasites. That is why you should be feeding frozen/thawed mice. I would not suggest a grey banded king for a beginner, and from what I have seen, I do not think they are "fierce."
