I saw this book on ebay a couple of years ago but the bidding got out of hand so I didnt get it. Its from 1968 and written by Allan W. Eckert and is somewhat of a collectors item due to scarcity as is written on the web, but they are out there. I'll cut and paste what the book is about here as well. If you get a chance buy it its been reprinted in softcover as well and you can get it from the kingsnake.com book store. I'ts a very entertaining read plus its about an Eastern Kingsnake so how can you go wrong lol. Ive included a scan of the the copy I just got yesterday as well.
Book Description A very special young adult nature novel about the life and adventures in survival of a North Carolina king snake, from the time of his hatching until he becomes adult. The story shows the way he lives, how he catches and eats his prey (including other snakes, even poisonous ones), his value in the balance of nature and the fascinating events of his life, shedding new light and understanding about the lives of snakes, which, despite their value to man, are so often misunderstood and deliberately killed just because of what they are or what they are perceived to be.
