I live in San Diego and just got a gohper snake in Jamul (my girlfriend found it in her garage). It's roughly 13 inches and has the diameter of a straw. Things are looking good. We are both into snakes and other wildlife and regularly visit the reserve across her street. I was wondering if anyone else on here is from the immediate area. It's a great desert enviroment with an outrageous field mouse population at the moment. I hope to see the snakes come out.

I live in La Jolla at UCSD now, but I grew up in Jamul. There are plenty of gopher snakes there. I also found california kings in and around the creek beds near Jamul intermediate school with some frequency.
