Hi there:
Early this morning I went in to check on my caecilian. I was curious about what I posted below. It was still swimming around in the water dish, wrapped around the vegetation. It still appeared to be in good health, so I left the room and decided not to disturb it. When I came back, it was near the spider plant again, with half of its body in the water. It whipped over toward some rocks, climbed about halfway into them, and died. I continuously misted it with bottled drinking water, but it was dead. I later took it out of the vivarium, and noticed something that I didn't notice before. There was a thin, almost perfectly straight, scar of some sort, coming out of the cloaca and about halfway up the abdomen. At the end, a huge open sore was forming. I think I will preserve it. Its dead body is blowing up like a ballon. It is extremely odd. ----- DAVE
