I've never kept curly tails, but Sceloporus (spiny lizards, fence lizards) require at least a 30 gallon tank, good UVB lighting like Reptisun 5.0, an incandescent basking light like 60-75W, a tempature gradient available in the tank so that they can choose where they want to be, a small water bowl, rocks to climb on, driftwood or cholla to climb on, and substrate to burrow in. I use ESU lizard litter Jungle mix (NOT the desert mix, which is ground up walnut shells) for my spiny lizards, which seems to work very well. They burrow into it at night to sleep. You might want to read Philipe de Vosjoli's Designing Desert Vivaria and his Lizard Keeper's Handbook. Both are full of excellent advice and pictures.
