Be careful with your feeding as it is easy to over feed witch is not the healthiest thing for them. I usually purchase 50 crickets every 2 weeks for my community Sceloporus occidentalis enclosure witch commonly holds up to 10 individuals. However they don’t eat them all. I use these prey items for the next 2 weeks of food. Better than 25% of the prey items end up dead in the prey enclosure before the 2 weeks is up. I have a section on Sceloporus occidentalis on my website as the species is part of my research efforts but as of now the written material is scarce at best. Are you using UV lights? I have not observed the need for one yet with this species. but its always advisable and I use a reptisun 5.0 bulb witch requires replacement every 6 months or so on my enclosures. This species is a very rewarding species to maintain and I am sure you will enjoy it. They are very easy to maintain with minimal effort. If you have any other questions regarding Sceloporus occidentalis myself or anyone ells here I am sure would be more than happy to answer them [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
