KANSAS CITY STAR (Missouri) 06 January 05 Reptile classes in Blue Springs

Children will have another chance this winter to learn about reptiles.

The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department will serve youths 6 through 18 in three courses. The sessions will begin Jan. 18 at Vesper Hall, 400 N.W. Vesper St.

The course for 6- to 9-year-olds will run for six weeks. The courses for youths 10 through 12 and 13 through 18 will run five weeks. All courses will be on Tuesday evenings.

Reptile Adventures: Children ages 6 – 9 will meet Tuesdays (6 weeks) at Vesper Hall,

400 NW Vesper Street, for this fun, hands-on opportunity to learn about reptiles and amphibians. Each class is filled with fun facts, learning games, craft projects, and lots of interaction with live frogs, toads, salamanders, turtles, lizards, and snakes! Instructor Garrett Lahey is a former High School Biology teacher.

Reptile Experts: This class is for the 10 to 12 year-olds who love animals (especially

reptiles and amphibians) and want to learn more! Each class offers great lessons and fun games all about frogs, toads, salamanders, turtles, lizards, crocodiles, and snakes. Touch live reptiles and amphibians from Missouri as well! Instructor Garrett. Lahey is a former High School Biology teacher. 5-week sessions

Herpetology League: This 5-week session includes exciting lessons on frogs, toads, salamanders,

turtles, lizards, crocodiles, and snakes as well as opportunities to collect reptiles and amphibians in the wild (weather permitting). Classes are geared toward students' ages 13 – 18 years, and will be held at Vesper Hall, 400 NW Vesper Street.
