Some forums have photos on their main page while others do not. Several photos were hand selected from the photo galleries while others were winners of photo contests. Some forums had photos at one time, but the author's of those photos for one reason or another removed them from the photo galleries which results in no photo showing up on the forum anymore.

In an effort to fix some of these problems I am holding an open casting call that applies to all three websites: kingsnake.com, kingsnake.ca (kingsnake Canada), and kingsnake.co.uk (kingsnake Europe).

If you find a forum with no current photo on its main page and you think you have one that would appropriate for it, share it HERE. Don't limit yourself to just the species forums - there are other more general forums that can use photos as well.

The selection of the photos by pethobbyist staff that are ultimately used on the various forums will be based on the clarity of the photo and the appropriateness of the subject matter, and where they may best fit in among the forums.

RULES

Photos MUST be uploaded to the PetHobbyist photo galleries. Photos submitted that currently reside on websites other than the PetHobbyist Photo gallery will not be accepted. http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/

Photos should be clear and in focus with the animal/object preferably the subject of attention.

Watermarks on the photos are acceptable as long as they are minimal in size and do not noticeably detract from the photo itself.

Photos should range between 160x120 and 640x480 pixels (photo size). I do not alter the photos in any way when I place a photo on a forum's page. In order to spare those individuals with dial-up connections - photos that have insanely large file sizes cannot be accepted due to the longer time it would take for the forum page to load. It is helpful to resize your photos prior to uploading them to the photo gallery.

The Terms of Service of this site still apply. All submissions must be photos that belong to you. You may not use another person's copyrighted photo.

Have Fun with it! This is not a cutthroat competition for only professional quality photos. In other words, don't take it too seriously and get all bent out of shape. We just want people to enjoy sharing their photos in a fun atmosphere.

When posting your photos, please remember to label them as to what animal they are. I'm pretty good at figuring out many species/subspecies, but even I have my limits. Some forums require very specific types of animals and it would help a lot to be able to find a photo here already labeled to make the hunt easier on me.
