Very short: Males typically reach roughly 2 ft, females stay smaller. Some old males significantly exceed that size, 3ft specimens have been reported. As minimum enclosure size i recommend 5 x 3 x 2 ft.Adult animals can conflict a very serious bite. They are voracious feeders which feed on any insect, small birds, mammals reptiles and veggies. They need bright lights for basking (150 W metal halides as sun spot are the best). They need tunnels and hides with moderately moist substrates. Hibernation is recommended, even though they can survive several years without. They are hardy and can live for up to 20 years. If you can read german, you may read my booklet on their husbandry:

I do mix them with uromastyx, as Bert Langerwerf does. But I do recommend this only for experienced keepers.
Here is one of my Tanks which is inhabited by Uros and jewelled lacertas (6.5 x 5.5 ft)

Hope that helps

Ingo
