Redfoots as adults, are usually around 12 to 13 inches. This goes for the northern populations as well as the so called 'dwarf' forms. But the statement also requires some explanation.
For example, SOME individuals from all populations may be much larger or much smaller than this when fully adult.
The 'cherryhead' or the erroneously named "True Dwarf Paraguayan" will grow to be 12 or 13 inches in captivity after just a few years and some will grow to be larger. They do show secondary sex characteristics at a smaller size than the northen redfoots though.
On the other hand, sometimes you will see a very small (around 8 inches)although obviously very old, individual that had been imported from Colombia, Surinam or Guyana. Some are just that way in every population.
Also, the form of redfoot found in Bolivia and Paraguay can be much, much larger and average 14 to 15 inches. There are a number of specimens that have been found from this area that are over 20 inches.
