I'm a little curious. I've been researching some herp adoptions, and I am kind of suprised that most agencies wont ship their animals. I can understand some of the reasons why. But I'm thinking, if someone is willing to pay the adoption fee, and the shipping cost, would'nt it be a plus to have the animal placed in a good home? I would love to adopt some of the herps I see available. Unfortunately, without shipping I cannot drive the 8-10 hours or so to pick up and animal. And with the cost of gas nowadays, it would be cheaper for me to buy the animal elsewhere. I'd pay for shipping...and an adoption fee. And it would still cost me less than going to the pet shop to buy the animal. I dont buy one, that leaves a spot open at my house open for one I could adopt, and if I adopt, that is one more animal placed. I should add, I'm not a young' un either. I'm 47 years old, so I am experienced enough to handle herps. And to afford the cost of shipping, adopting, then feeding and housing the animal. So because there is no shipping, lots of animals languish while awaiting adoption. Anyone from a rescue, or shelter care to comment?
