a question about emerald swift babies- color and age

I work in a pet store and recently brought home two baby emerald swifts which had been born at the store. They both are a dark brown color, and very tiny, i'd say a week old and about 1.5 inches, but i was wondering about what age they begin to show their adult colors? or if they are brown now do i definately have females?
