May be toxic or the sweet smell may tempt them to eat it and you never know what that might do to them. Kind of an expensive way to find out. I found some nice 5' to 10' lengths of bamboo at my local OSH in the gardening section. I do not know what part of the US you live in, but if there is an Orchard Supply Hardware near you try there. I also found that the grape wood branches the pet stores sell is way overpriced. I found some really nice pieces at Home Depot's plant section that already had some nice looking epiphytes glued to them.
