First gecko or first DAY gecko? If this is your first gecko, I wouldn't go for a Phelsuma. Most of the species have very specific needs as far as husbandry goes. For a first gecko, I would reccomend a leopard or crested gecko.

If you have had reptiles before and you really want to try a Phelsuma, the go for a Standing's Day Gecko. This is a totally awesome species which are very tolerant of their keeper's mistakes. They like it alittle arid and are usually good eaters. Just do your research of course.
