Finding an escaped snake has a lot to do with timing. Like when you find they've gotten out while feeding, so you know they couldn't have gone far in 5 or 10 minutes. Generally, unless chased, snakes will move slowly, checking thier surroundings and sticking close to walls. Cornsnakes also tend to climb a bit, liking ledges as opposed to floors. Last night I found a snake tank lid slightly ajar. I had no idea how long the snakes (two yearlings) had been out. I mentally mapped out a path a snake would take and found the first within five minutes (behind the tank). I used him as a point of reference for the second, assuming the sencond snake had gone the same way, but further. For you, the shed skin is a similar point of reference. Connect the dots: tank, skin, what's next? I found the sencond snake behind a door 5 feet ahead of the first. If you don't find the snake immediately, the next chance is by luck. Looking hard without a game plan has never worked for me (though I know the panic that encourages it). Lady luck has worked, occasionally letting me find a snake I didn't know was missing! Ears are as important as eyes: what just made the glasses on the counter clink? Finally, we've all lost a few. I had a Mexican King go missing a year or two ago, and I still jump with hope when a page falls out of the inbox, or a closet door squeaks. Good luck.
