Recently, a power outage due to an electrical storm while we out for the day caused my "Gumby" ACF and my piranha tank to float up to the big aquarium in the sky. These animals were acquired prior to the birth of my eldest daughter (she is 19).
Here is the clincher: I live in a stae which no longer permits ownership of these animals. Since the aquisition of those animals years ago, legislation has been passed which prohibit me from replacing my animals. Apparently these laws were brought into effect due to irresponsible actions by a FEW persons - releasing into native waters, etc. I would ask everyone to act responsibly - if you find you can no longer care for your pet (life is life and things DO happen), give it to a pet shop, rescue, or even consider humane species-appropriate euthanasia as a final resort - DO NOT release it into the wild.
My children especially miss gumby the frog, we kept him on the "bar" for years and he was fascinating to watch. I hope sometime I have the opportunity to replace him.
Everyone have a safe and happy Holiday weekend.
