If you are referring to cooling down for hybernation
(brumation), I have had very good luck with reducing the temperature to 60F to 65F for two full months in January and February. Stop feeding about two weeks before cooling down to clear out their digestive system and no food at all for the duration of two months. At that temperature (60F to 65F) they will hardly loose anty weight surprisingly. After two full months slowly start increasing the temp and start feeding again a few days later. Some one else may do it different but this has worked very well for me.
Hope this helps,

Rob Reiding.
