hey guys. new stuff, at my local park, no where near any wildlife areas,(known for a turtle dumping area, usually res) ive found but not YET ben able to catch 2 softshell turts. not sure of species, i kno they r softshells tho. the big one is mabe 15-17 inch shell, HUGE head, about as big as a young res, (Its not a mota-mota, dont worry) and as far as ive seen so far its got yellow stripes upt the sides of its huge head. Theres also a smaller one, mabe 7 inches shell. it would be an ok palce for them, but its so overpoplutaed with mean kids and RES already that im sure they wouldnt survive, along with the fact they would starve to death. i dont doubt another herp lover will fid them before i can get them out, but my question is how should i catch them? its a wiggly-shaped pond, prety large, but not huge ya know, mabe i dunno, the size of a hotel swimming pool but its only like 2 feets, mabe even 1 foot deep, and ver polluted. and i cant jump from one side to the other at any point. any tools i could make to catch them ? poles, teqniques? thnx, nick.
