Well...
First off, plants aren't needed. Give the snake a substrate it could burrow into, like a mulch/soil mix. Any plants would most likely be outrooted or smashed anyways, so they wouldn't do any good.
Temps. around 75-80. Spray the mulch once or twice a week.
Prey wise, most prefer small snakes. Like ringnecks, brown snakes, rat snakes, that sort of thing. Others will take skinks and occasionally lizards. They rarely switch onto mice. And their mouths aren't really wide enough anyways.
