Hi,
I just recently adopted a redfooted tortoise and have some questions. The lady who I adopted "him" from lived in the hills under redwoods and kept him in a room with a bunch of iguanas...he never got natural sunlight and was fed a very basic green diet (mostly lettuce and commercial tortoise food). Since I've had him, I've been feeding the basic diet of an iguana (high calcium leafy greens (mustard, turnip and dandelion greens accompanied by some grated zuchinni and other assorted veggies and fruits). I've been supplementing with Calium and he pretty much spends all of the time outside (until fall) basking in the sun and chillin in the shade. Now the questions:
1) How do I sex this tortoise?
2) He? has some sort of knobby swellings at the base of his? legs, kinda where the armpits would be. These appear hard and not fluid filled...any ideas what this could be? Any advice is appreciated.
thanks,
SB
