I have Russian that I bought a few months ago at a show. The vendor claimed it was captive bred, but with a $30 price tag, I doubt it. Anyway, he (or she) is about 5", and I assume not quite full grown. There is alot of valuable info on russiantortoise.org, but this poor guy is totally lethargis, and has stopped eating completely. I was hoping that the hot carolina weather is a factor, but moved him inside so as to get a more significant temperature gradient across his enclosure. However, he remains listless. Even when soaking him in lukewarm water, he hardly moves. Does anybody have any ideas on how to "jump start" poor Boris? Like I said, I bet he was wild caught, and I know tortoises of that origin struggle in captivity, and I also know that Russians are truly active only a few months of the year, but I'm quite concerned about this guy. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
