The care for both species is about the same with a couple of notable differences. Yellowfoots prefer more humidity than redfoots, more shade and are generally a bit more shy. But, raised from hatchlings they are not difficult. They like to have access to water also were they soak to avoid the heat.
They CAN be kept together and they occur in the same habitat in a number of places without interbreeding. In Ilha de Maraca (Northwestern Brazil) they are found even in the same microhabitat but do not interbreed or fight.
I know of many keepers here in Florida who have kept them together for decades without any problems.
