This is the first time having rosy babie and it didn't go as planned. The female gave birth to 7 on sunday and only 3 were living. One of the "dead" ones had its mouth open so after an hour or so I put a straw in its mouth and blew lightly to see if it would be possibly to get any air in.(bored and just wanted to see.) about a half hour later that dead snake was alive and moving. It is still doing well this morning but two of the other didn't make it. one that was alive started spitting a yellow liquid out of its mouth about three hours after birth and ended up dead this morning. Two babies were still in there sacks and were probably dead before they came out. A good friend thinks they were cooked to cool. I thought the hot side should be 85 as the room is 75. Needless to say the heat is now 80 and 90. She ovulated on june 17 so they went full term.
Do you clip the cord after birth or let nature work its course. I would think they might bleed out. They all still have yokes attached and most of the dead babies looked like they had just eaten a rat pup,(absolutly huge,in the mid section.) I might add that she was huge as well about double as she was last year when a friend bread her and she had 6 healthy babies. some of them also were bug eyed. The eyey are sticking out of the head way further than any baby pics I've seen. Do you think heat was the problem or over weight???
