Have you tried searching for studies on PubMed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi)? I would try a search for declining snake populations or a search on increasing populations of possible snake prey species. You might also want to just focus on the destruction that an overpopulation of prey species might have on the environment.

Just a thought.
