Diatomaceous earth is a mite treatment that dates back to the 1960s if not earlier. I first heard of it under the name Dry-Die. It kills mites, but it's bad for snake lungs, too. And the more humid the air, the less effective the stuff is. As far as I know, chemical miticides are more effective. And predatory mites may be better at killing snake mites, too.
