I honestly have no secret method for doing what you ask. The one thing you can focus on that will not change is pattern. Also if you're big into speckling or lack of, you can also see this as a neonate. How a baby will color up is very difficult to tell. Just a couple of suggestions would be if you have a few babies that you are interested in, ask the owner to shoot them together in a group shot. In seperate photos it sometimes hard to identify a standout but can more easily see it when together with other animals.
