you will be wrong (in my opinion). If we use your belief that they are all "the same species, just different subspecies", then we would also label Argentine boas, Longicaudas, and Amaralis as "REDTAILS". To call them redtails is not using a generic term. If you have many subspecies or even species, and you tell people you keep boas, and not get into your localities, then using "boas" is generic. I don't think I need to get into your argument of your hypo being a redtail because "he has a really red tail." I suppose we could begin calling red-tailed ratsnakes "redtail boas" if the only quailification we need is a red tail. Again, just my opinions. But rather than saying you have redtails, why not just say you have Colombians or Colombian boas. If you went to a reptile show and told people you have redtails (and they had a clue) they would ask if you had Suriname, Guyanan, Peruvian. I have 53 various boas. How many redtails? One Suriname. How many BCI (Colombians)? Thirty six. SO I don't have 37 Redtails. I have one.
