Heat and light output is much more than required for the species unless you have a HUGE enclosure and use the externally ballasted version. There has even been discussion as to the suitability of the 10.0 output fluorescent bulbs. I use mega-Ray MV bulbs and would highly recommend you spend the extra $$ and get the externally ballasted version. The output is more steady and there is very little heat emitted. they are 60 watt and emit the UV of the 100 watt internally ballasted, which tend to blow after only a few months. email them at www.reptileuv.com and they can fix you up with a lower output MV bulb suitable for your chameleon if you decide to go with MV.
