whoa...a 40 & 55? those are way big for a snake espescially an 18". snakes are pretty much insecure and dont need a mansion to live in. the smaller the enclosure the better. a 10-15 GAL would be better. just get bigger tanks or sterilites as they grow. for reference, i have a 7' boa that rests comfortably in a 30 GAL and a 4.5' boa that is just starting to make his size presence known in the same size enclosure. enough room for a water dish, hide, and a climbing branch (small) is all you need.
