rainbows-r-us pretty much covered it. if you want to get one of those snakes from that store because of a good price or something, i would suggest the het albino and look for a hypo het albino (like rainbows-r-us suggested) at a show or online. if you do this, make sure the hypo het albino has the same albino strain as the het albino in the store (either khal or sharp). also you probably want to make srue the het albino is 100% het unless you want to take a chance of raising it up only to be a normal.
>>Sounds like 6 year minimum. That would be two generations at 3 year grow up, could take 4 years for grow up, 3 is a little young (IMO) still doable though. >> >>Both Snows and Sunglows are the combination of two distinct genetic anomolies. >> >>Snows require getting four specific genes into one animal, one albino and one anery gene from each parent. Minimal to have even a chance of producing a snow would be double het parents. With double het breedings the probability of snow is quite low, out of a litter of 16 you statistically would produce: >>1 snow >>3 albinos 66%het anery >>3 anerys 66%het albino >>9 normals 66% het albino, 66% het anery >> >>Sunglows are a bit easier as the hypo trait is dominant and only requires one gene so the total aberant gene count need only be 3, 1-hypo (from either parent) and two albino genes, one from each parent. Again minimal requirement to produce sunglows would be a hypo het albino crossed with a het albino. >>Out of a litter of 16 again: >>2 - sunglow >>6 hypo 66%het albino >>2 albino >>6 normal 66%het albino >>----- >>Thanks, >> >>Dave "Rainbows-R-Us" >> >>0.1 Wife (WC) >>0.2 kids (CBB) >>4.12 Brazilian Rainbow Boa >>2.1 Hypomelanistic BRB >>0.1 Het for Hypomelanistic BRB >>0.1 BCI "Elvira" normal from 1989 >>1.0 BCI albino / het-anery >>0.1 BCI Hypo / het-albino >>0.1 BCI Anery / het-albino >>0.1 BCI Hypo (possible super) >>1.0 BCI albino het stripe >>1.0 BCI salmon hypo >>0.1 BCI ghost >> >>lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats >> >>_____ >> >>sig file edited, contact an admin. 2/13/06
