"Please help. I have owned my Fischer chameleon for three years now. He was wild caught, so it is difficult to age him, but I think he was a sub-adult at the time. I realise he is probably old now.

Anyway, he has had eye problems on and off since I bought him. The first time I took him to the vet, the problem was fixed with Baytril. He was o.k until November last year when he developed mild eye problems again. (By this I mean, no pus, but reguarly rubbing his eyes, no sign of infection, but eyes closed sometimes). Once again he was given Baytril and also Ciloxan eye drops. Basically they didnt work. Since then I have tried flushing his eyes out with saline solution and also water.

Unfortunately now he has both eyes shut permanantly and he doesn't eat. He still drinks water and he moves around his viv but very slowly now. His colouration looks o.k (not showing dull colours). He used to let me hand feed him wax worms but won't open his mouth for me now.

His eyes are now both sunken but he still rubs them. He might be a little bit thinner but not much. He prefers to spend his time on the bottom of his viv now which I've read isn't good. Any advice would be gratefully received as he is the most loved chameleon in the world.

By the way I have kept other species for a couple of years with no problems so I like to think my husbandry methods are o.k

What should I do next for him?
