males might twitch out of stimulation, but female twitching is more often rejection, throwing up curls to push the male off, that sort of thing, not unlike male combat behavior. when they're ready, you'll know it. also, i don't know that the scent gets stronger with every scent, i think the ovulation process reaches a point of readiness in a way that coincides with a shed cycle. the switch from non-breeding to breeding is not so much a gradual change, in my experience, as it is more abrupt: not ready, not ready, not ready, ooops: ready!
