I just acquired a new girl (Albino BCI) last week (Tuesday). She is an 05 born around Aug. I let her settle in and on Saturday I offered her a very small rat pup, which she took without hesitation. I left her alone to digest and checked up on her Monday night. She still had a lump from the rat, so I left her alone. As of last night (Wed.), she still looks like she hasn't digested her pup. I've never seen digestion take this long before. She has a hot spot of 90 degrees and the ambient temperature in her tub is right around 80 - 82. I have not handled her at all because I am concerned about a regurge. I have all sorts of ideas in my head - impaction, parasites, etc... I did get her from a reputable breeder, but had planned to have her checked out by my vet once she had her first defecation. Just wondering in the meantime if anyone has ever seen this? Am I overreacting, could she just be preparing to have the mother load of defecations?
