Hi,

here an illustration of my hidebox I use for my mamba's:


By making a sliding-system you can safely change the lid for other purposes like attaching a snakebag or whatever.

As you can see the shutter is locked by a pin!
An acrylic-glass lid is very handy when you need to check the animals.



I've made the hidebox from waterproof (multiplex) wood. But Iwan makes them from plastic. Maybe he can post some pics too!
