Welcome to another WEEK IN REVIEW! LOTS OF PICS so here is a little light reading while waiting for the pics load.
I skipped last weeks WIR b/c I had company visiting. This was a great weekend since I had a chance to hit the Hamburg (northwestern berks) herp show. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to a show. It’s just as easy to obtain quality reptiles online. Some say there is uncertainty with buying online since you don’t have the animal in front of you to examine. However, buy from a trusted source and you’ll have no worries. Besides, waiting for a package to arrive is like being a kid again on xmas morning.lol
As far as herp shows go, this one had to be one of the most crowded I’ve been to in awhile. I had to park a mile away (which I didn’t mind until I had a huge box of frozen rodents to carry back to my car.lol). I had so many people rub up against me that I felt violated a few times.LOL Definitely a lot of unique people there so in the future, if anyone wants to meet-up with me and say hi, I’m the normal-looking guy without piercings/nose rings/tattoos/pink hair/chains or other interesting things I also think I got a contact buzz while loading my car from some dudes parked next to me clam baking in the parking lot. LOL (where were the police? writing parking tickets of course.lol) Anyway, lots of cool stuff there. I would have taken pics BUT I always feel funny about asking vendors.
There was no shortage of quality herps present. In fact, I meet-up with Joe Rollo (bcijoe) who had some of the most amazing boas at the show. They were undeniably the best that I could see through the crowds. If only I had money, I’d make Joe a rich man! LOL. The only thing I came home with was FROZEN RODENTS and lots of em. If you were there, then you would’ve seen struggling to carry a giant box out to my car. I saved a small fortune on shipping though! I only have about 100 snakes so I can’t imagine how people with larger collections do it. Even if you bred mice/rats yourself, it still takes manpower/hours plus food/caging/water and cleaning supplies. Anyway, I also enjoyed seeing Paul Mitchell’s table. I have one of his female hogs from 02 or 03? and he always has beautiful boas. Plus, he had some very nice caging at the show. Overall, it was a good show. A little too crowded for my tastes but a lot of animals for this time of year. My wife was just relieved/happy that I didn’t come home with more animals.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I have done away with some categories. If there are any categories you'd like to see, just reply and I'll read your recommendations. I made a separate section for the outdoor pics and will probably stick with it. No one submitted any rumors or hearsay so I deleted that section as well. I am thinking of seperating expected litters/gravid females from new litters recently born. Any thoughts? ----- Sincerely, Jason www.NortheastSnakes.com NortheastSnakes@aol.com
