There is so much confusion out there regarding "pastelism".

What defines the trait and the benefit of the trait tends to get intermingled and misinterpreted.

Take Jeff's pastel dream albino's from a few years back. Now, how did he label those as "pastel" if there is no melanin present to judge the lack of it? Obviously it is impossible to judge the level of melanin if there is a mutation involved that totally interferes, so how was he able to label them as pastels? Well, I dont believe pastel albinos are deemed "pastel" because of the lack of melanin the individual has... but from the fact that it is from a pastel bloodline and has benefited from the increased color tied to that bloodline.

I think Matt's adult female looks like a pastel to me and is likely from a pastel bloodline (whether the breeder knew he was breeding for lack of melanin/increased color or not). The male is incredible as well obviously.. and many pastels pop out of the stripe line. So I think it is totally safe to call these offspring "pastel" albinos. The problem is that the line in which they have enough color to be deemed a pastel albino is totally subjective... oh well.
