Misting

hey guys, yesterday i went to the local pet store and was told to raise the humidity in my tank by misting it 2-3 times a day. However today I was reading that the cage should be kept dry, so i am a little confused. I currently do not have a humid hide but plan on getting one. Also to help with shedding i was wondering if i should get somthing sharp for the cage. Thnks guys
