First of all you need to make sure the leo is old enough to sex. How big is it, length, grams?
A male has two bulges south of the vent and a V shape row of preanal pours, north of the vent, that excrete a wax once mature. Females don't have bulges but can sometimes look bulgy. They also sometimes have what looks like the preanal pores, but under magnifying glass you can see they are just dents.
Males can mate with many females in one season without over doing it, but care is still needed to make sure he rests and eats. Males have a one track mind and will stop eating when breeding. Houseing four females together is pushing it but can be done. Sometimes females don't do good living with others. All leos will thrive better when housed alone, only introducing a male to a female when she is ovulating. Still some can be house together all year round. I have a group of 1.3 that do great together all year. The most important thing to remember is a female should be at least 1 year and 50grams minimum before breeding, so she stays healthy. Providing calcium and vitamins is very important for leos, especially gravid females.
