If you're going to cover the sides as Johnny suggested, I'd recommend looking at expanded polyethylene. You can buy a quarter-inch thick R 1.0 type from a hardware store for about $30 for a very long sheet of the stuff. Cutting is easy with a razor knife or scissors.
