Pastel question.

What exactly makes a pastel a pastel? (as compared to normals)

I guess what I'm asking is what are the visible traits that would be present to classify a BP as a pastel?

It's not as easy as just looking at a spider or an albino, those are obvious.

How can you tell that the snake is a pastel, for someone new to ball python morphs?

Any and all help greatly apreciated, thanks in advance!
