In many areas of the world there are harmless snakes that the indigenous peoples believe are venomous. In Thailand, many people that do not know better are convinced that Cylindrophis ruffus are venomous, not only the bite, but believe the sharply pointed tail is a stinger. They are amazed that I just carelessly handle these gentle snakes (which they believe to be dangerous).

This could be the case with the Kenyan Sand Boa.
