Reading your post, it sounds like your snake is exhibiting pretty much normal behavior....Ball pythons, for the most part, hide for most of their lives. They are very secretive, solitary critters in nature, and any stressor would increase that shyness. The big and obvious stressor is that you're keeping another snake in the same enclosure. Get each snake in its own enclosure, and things may change.
