it is best for the snake to feed outside of the enclosure if you have aspen or anything else that could be swallowed with the food. When I switched from reptile carpet, feeding outside of the cages added around an hour or so to my feeding schedule. It can be a pain, but is worth it for the health of my snakes. I'd rather take the extra time now than have to take the extra time and money to take the animal to the vet because of a block or infection.
