After patiently waiting several weeks my friend handed over his lovely 4 year old male leutistic black rat snake. He is really beautiful, more than I expected him to be, despite seeing various pictures of other people's leutistic snakes. He has blue eyes, which really give him a nice look.

One thing I noticed, though not sure if it's any concern, is he has a few odd colored scales (just a single scale that's brownish or greyish in coloration, the surrounding scales are normal looking). I am thinking maybe an unshed scale? I don't think it's scale rot as it is located on the top of his body, not belly and it seems odd to have just one scale affected in the same area. Maybe this sort of odd coloration for leutistics is normal? Deffinitely not a tick or mite, it's the entire single scale, which is much too big for even an engorged tick/mite.

Can't see the aberrent scale in this picture, will try and catch it next time I do some pictures of him. Picture is him feeding for the first time under my care (about 24 hours after he came into my care, to be precise). I received him Wednesday night (march 8th)
